Everardo Montes Maldonado, 82, of Fort Smith, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2022. He was born on February 1, 1940 in Villa Lopez, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Baldomero and Ines Montes. Everardo was a farmer and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Eva de la Cruz Moreno.
He is survived by his daughter, Olivia Montes Flores (Ignacio) of Fort Smith; four sons, Joel Montes (Magdalena) of Fort Smith, Merced Montes (Alicia) of Everest, KS, Everardo Montes, Jr. (Olga) of Valley Falls, KS and Antonio Montes (Vanessa) of Villa Lopez, Chihuahua, Mexico; his sister, Ines Montes Soto of Valle de Allende, Mexico along with 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2023, with the rosary service to start at 6:00 PM, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
