Franklin E Strong

Franklin “Frank” Strong, 90, of Fort Smith, passed away Monday December 20, 2010. He was born October 3, 1920 in Geneva, IL to William F. and Mary Katherine Schmidt Strong. He was retired Heat and Air Serviceman from Rheem Manufacturing, member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Army Veteran of World War II, member, past Commander and Quartermaster of VFW Post #3385, member of American Legion Post #31 and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Strong.

Rosary service will be 6:00 PM Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 27, 2010, at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Tom Elliott officiating. Burial will Military Honors will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Eugenia “Jean” Strong of the home, three children Paula Kucharzyk of Fort Smith, Kevin Strong and wife Debbie of Norman, OK and Jackie Birdwell and husband Fred of Fort Smith, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dale Spain, Mike Skidmore, Johnny Gothard, Robert Cravens, Leroy Farmer and Todd Watkins.

The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Edwards Funeral Home.
