Freddie Joe Erwin

Freddie Joe Erwin, 78, of Arkoma, OK, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, in Fort Smith. He was born on February 1, 1940 in Muldrow, OK to the late Edward William and Gladys Velma (Richison) Erwin. He was a retired finishing superintendent of 47 years from Riverside Furniture and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Pocola. He was a loving uncle, brother, friend, devoted husband and man of faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Emogene Wilson, Juanita Erwin and Frieda Creighton; and four brothers, Leon, Raymond, Bob, and Ned Erwin.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; beloved dog, Sugar; four sisters, Betty Sue Spencer of Tulsa, Edwina Osburn of Sallisaw, Patsy June Whitlock and Christeen Erwin of Pocola; three brothers, Shelby Erwin of Pocola, Ray Erwin of Pocola, and Charles Erwin of Mountainburg, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April. 23rd, at the Assembly of God in Pocola with the Revs. Doug Jackson and Danny Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Spradlin, Dan Beshoner, Benny Hawks, Roger Woods, Kevin Berry, Robert Reeves, Robby Erwin, and Brookin Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Erwin, John Thornberry, Tommy McClain, Jim Keck, Robert Maxwell and Bill Evans.

The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
