

Gwendolyn Riley, 76, of Barling, AR died December 29, 2014 in Fort Smith. She was born May 8, 1938 in Fort Smith to Mitchell and Thelma Lula Wilson Stevens. She was retired from the AFLCIO Meat Cutters Local 425, a former employee of the National Parks Service and served on the campaign for then Gov. Bill Clinton. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Barling where she was also a Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by three sons, Chuck and wife Julie Stanick of Greenwood, Tim Stanick of Barling, and David and wife Rachel Zanelli of Greenwood; two sisters, Shelia Hartsfield of Hot Springs Village, AR and Janice Massey of Prairie Grove, AR; one brother, Dennis Collins of West Fork, AR; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess Riley. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Barling with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Alex Bishop, Shawn Bearden, Cody Maxwell, Ian Henderson, Skip Stevens, and Brian Rodgers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Doug Brown, Dick and Peggy Spears, Jay Geels, Lynn and Tony Meeks, Julie Anderson, Edwina Schwarz, Rita and Mike Ferguson, and Mike Seibold.
