

Iva Bynum Whitehead, 89, of Fort Smith, was promoted to glory February 18, 2013. She was born May 25, 1923 in Peno, Oklahoma to Cal and Myrtle Bynum, deceased. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Whitehead, one son Robert A. Whitehead, one daughter Linda F. Mizell, two sisters and three brothers. Iva was a member of The Salvation Army Church, their Women’s Ministry and a long time volunteer of the nursing home ministry. A celebration of Iva’s life will be at 11:30 AM Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Iva’s grandson Captain Michael Lucas of Broken Arrow, OK with burial at Forest Park Cemetery. Iva is survived by one sister Hattie McClure of Atlanta, GA, one son Donald L. Whitehead of Fort Smith, two daughters Norma J. Lucas of Fort Smith and Sue Liberto of Tulsa, OK, fifteen grandchildren, twenty- seven great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and her best friend and roommate Ruth Hartoon at Memory Lane in Van Buren, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons David Lucas, Douglas Mizell, Toby Whitehead, Bobby Gregory, Skylar Mizell and Sheldon Mizell. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Donny Mizell, Biran Mizell and Steve Lucas. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
