

Jane Fiehl, 85, of Fort Smith, died April 17, 2011 in Fort Smith. She was born November 6, 1925 in Oak Park, Ill. to Orlin Oscar Kruse and Marjorie Mann Kruse. After high school she became an RN at West Suburban Hospital, the same hospital in which she was born. Jane married Arthur P. “Duke” Fiehl in 1951 and moved to Fort Smith where she remained her entire life. She worked as an office nurse for Drs. Arthur and Marlin Hoge and later for Drs. Marlin Hoge and Paul Anderson. She enjoyed needle crafts and participated in Civic organizations in Fort Smith. She was active in the Junior Civic League, and was involved in their Christmas House Tours and the early Red Stocking Revues. In 1963 she and her husband along with several other couples founded Fort Smith’s Central Christian Church. Central remains an example of her love for her Lord and her community.
She is survived by her husband, Duke Fiehl of Fort Smith; one daughter, Jo Ann Gunter of Fort Smith; one son, Jon Fiehl and his wife Lagusta; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 12:30 PM in the Central Christian Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the Direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Todd Fiehl, Matthew Decker, Bill Fink, Jon Dyer, Jo Ann Gunter, and Scott Montgomery.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM
