After growing up in Elizabethtown, KY, Jean met and married her late husband, Bruce McNeill who was posted at nearby Fort Knox, KY during the Korean War. The McNeills were married for 65 years until his passing in 2018.
Mrs. McNeill is survived by a daughter, Lugene, and son-in-law Dr Sinclair Armstrong, Jr of Vian, OK; two granddaughters, Aston Armstrong of Norman, Oklahoma and Sloan Armstrong Hart and her husband of New York City, New York, and one sister, Mary Frank of Jensen Beach, FL.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was preceded in death by two sisters Polly Baker and Norma Neagle and three brothers, Bill, Allan, and Charles Rickett.
Jean was involved in the Junior Civic League, Sparks Hospital Guild and Sparks Women’s Board, Chapters F and J PEO, Hardscrabble Women’s Golf Association, and Hardscrabble Garden Club.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ft Smith or the Wounded Warrior Project.
