Jeff S Brown

30 novembre 195924 juillet 2020

Jeff Brown 60, of Fort Smith, AR formerly of Prairie Grove passed away on July 24, 2020. He was born November 30, 1959 in Grove City, PA to Roger Brown and Carolyn Crider Brown. He was a member of the Westark church of Christ. Jeff’s family moved to Southern California when he was about 3 years old. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time at the beach while growing up. In high school, Jeff was a star athlete, playing basketball, football and throwing shotput. He played football in college and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where he met his wife, Donna. They married in 1984 and had one son, Spencer, born in 1993. Jeff’s college degree was in Industrial Safety and he spent more than 30 years working as a safety director for various companies. Jeff and Donna made their home in Prairie Grove for almost 30 years before moving to Fort Smith in July 2019 after retirement to make their home closer to Spencer and his wife Darsey. Jeff loved his family and was happiest when spending time with them. He was a wonderful Christian husband, father, son and brother. He enjoyed traveling and had traveled to almost every state. After retirement, he and Donna spent the winters in their RV in south Texas. After returning home from Texas in the spring of 2020, Jeff became ill and was subsequently diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma cancer that had metastasized to his lungs, liver, bones and brain. Although he fought a good fight, he did not suffer long before God called him home. Jeff will be remembered as a patient, loving person who had a beautiful smile and personality, and was a gentle giant to those who knew him. His love for family and his friendship to others will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Donna Brown of Fort Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Spencer and Darsey Brown of Fort Smith; mother, Carolyn Brown of Santee, CA; two brothers, Ron Brown of Colorado Springs, CO, Scott Brown of Santee, CA; In-laws, Bob and Galeatha Spencer of Stilwell, OK; brothers-in-law, Steve Spencer of Fort Smith, and Hal Spencer of Stilwell, OK. A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home. To place online condolences, visit www.edwardsfuneralhome.com.

Jeff was a teammate on my junior college track team at Grossmont JC. I'll have to dig up the team photo from 1980-81. I remember him as a big strong guy who threw the shot put. A very nice guy with a pleasant smile and quite humble. So sorry for your loss. I hadn't heard anything about him in 40 years. Looks like he had a wonderful life and family. Gone too soon. I'm glad he had God in his life❤️❤️❤️

I have so many memories of wonderful evenings at Jeff and Donna’s home. Jeff would end up laughing at our silliness while we made cards and scrapbook pages. His laugh was so big and he truly did enjoy his family most! Having gone to church with Jeff and Donna for so many years and being such good friends with them, there are so many memories I could share and have them all in my heart. My love and prayers to this special family at this most difficult time.
