Jerry was one great guy and I miss him in many ways, and Wincie.


Dear children of Jerry and Wincie,   I had the privilege of knowing your parents. I met them about a year before Wincie's passing and started cleaning house for them. They were a lovely couple. I immediately liked them. Wincie was the sweetest lady, she told me stories of their travels and their hunting trips, and even of her children. She lent me books to read that she thought I'd enjoy.                                                                    
After her passing Jerry and I would talk about her and how much he missed her. I would call him from time to time to see how he was doing after he moved out of his home. sometimes we'd cry together, we even met for lunch once. I'm sorry to say that I let time get away from talking to him lately, so it was a surprise to see him in the obituary Sunday. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm sure Mrs. Wincie is there to welcome him home.

Jerry Hendricks and Wincie had an association with Peggy and I through our shared work in the Fort Smith Historical Society.  We visited at the Society meetings and in each other's homes, working on stories and mailouts for the Journal and thoroughly enjoyed the  time spent together.  His sense of humor, travel and hunting adventures, and interest in historical events and people made him and Wincie wonderful company to keep.  Peggy and I will l miss him as we miss Wincie and think them among the best people who we ever knew.

Jerry help get me hired on at Weldon, Williams & Lick 31 years ago. I will be forever grateful. Wonderful family. Jerry was a hard worker and great leader. He will be missed.

Jerry will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jerry and Wincie got all of us to go back to our roots in Ireland and shared so much of our Hendricks family heritage and we are so thankful for that. Sincerely, Betsy

Through the portals of time, memories and loved ones, I remember.  So on 10 October 1959 my father walked Wincie down the aisle at Immaculate Conception Church to give her away to Jerry in the spirit of the union.  He told her that he was giving her away but not ever from his heart.  After Andy was born at St. Edward’s, Wincie and Andy stayed with us for several weeks and you would have thought that my father was a doting grandfather.  He carried Andy up the steps of the plane for them to fly back to Colorado.  The only two times that I ever saw my father cry.  The family tree became larger and stronger with the addition of Angie, Julie, and Liz, their children, and those two precious great grandchildren and this wonderful legacy began who are now the torch bearers of the most awesomely wonderful family.  My Uncle Jerry was not only my uncle but the great uncle to my three children and also their godparent.  It hurts my heart that he has passed but I know that he is reunited with Wincie, Threse, Poppy, Shirley, Pam, Buddy, and Hunky and I can only imagine what a joyous reunion that is.  Uncle Jerry gave me so much; strength when I felt I had none, love and a hug when I needed it, laughter when the things were going sideways, and so many other life-sustaining kindnesses.  As long as there is a memory, he lives.  Each of you come from a long line of love to lean on to hold you up when you think you can’t stand and how blessed and fortunate that is.
