Jim was born in Millinocket, Maine November 29, 1951.
Jim was the third of three children of Frank Raymond Rush and Lauretta Bell (Luke) Rush.
He served his country in the Army and Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1976. After leaving the military, Jim began his law enforcement career in the State of Arkansas with the Arkadelphia Police Department and then the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Jim then went to work with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department until he retired as a Captain in 1999. After retiring he went to work for TSA in Fort Smith after 9/11 and worked there until total retirement in 2012 as a Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Manning) Rush of 27 year, his daughter, Marcia (Rush) Bartlett, and husband Chris Bartlett of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Two stepsons Bryan Corley and wife, Lisa of Norfolk, Nebraska and Shawn Corley of Spiro, Oklahoma. He is also survived by seven beloved grandkids, Katelyn (Bartlett) Dieffenbacher and Erich of Temecula, California, Caleb Bartlett of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Megan and Shawn Michael Corley of Spiro, Oklahoma, Brycen James Corley of Tampa, Florida and JoJo and Bella Corley of Norfolk, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Bob Rush and Betsy Dewitt.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas with burial to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 Garland Avenue Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Family will greet friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the funeral home.
