

Jonathan W. Davis, 93, of Fort Smith passed away January 30, 2017. He was born May 5, 1923 in Waveland, AR to the late Jonathan and Annie Davis. Mr. Davis was a homebuilder in the Fort Smith area for 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Pastor’s Class. He also volunteered to help repair churches. He was a former member of the National Home Builders Association and a charter member of the Fort Smith Home Builders Association and president in 1961. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Frances (Jackie) Adams Davis in October 2014; and four sisters, Lillian Pearce, Sally Lucas, Lila Foster and Evelyn Ryan.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at the U.S. National Cemetery Pavilion with burial to follow at the U.S. National Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his children, John Davis and wife Brenda of Norman, OK, Jacqueline Moore and husband James of Fort Smith, Paula Fischer of Knoxville, AR and Paul Davis and wife Jodie of Greenwood, AR; six grandchildren, Dana Harrington, Jonathan Davis, Hunter Davis, Josh Davis, Maggie Davis and Christy Moore; four great grandchildren, Bailey Smith, Sunni Harrington, Alexander Davis and Griffin Davis; and one sister, Laura Ethel McCourt of Danville, AR.
