

SSgt. Joseph Paul Haskins, U.S. Army Retired, 84, of Fort Smith, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012, in Fort Smith. He was born March 14, 1928 in Boston, MA to Joseph and Amelia Johns. He was retired from the U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from Rheem Air Conditioning Division. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Waltraud “Wally” Haskins, parents Joseph and Amelia Haskins, brothers and sisters Arthur Haskins, Eva Bosworth, Elmer Haskins, Louie Haskins, Eddie Haskins, Donny Haskins and Robert Haskins all from Massachusetts.
Rosary service will be 6:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Monday, November 26, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Greg Luyet officiating. Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery with full Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by five daughters Roswitha Goodman and husband Ron of Fort Smith, Irene Haskins Barbour and husband Dennis of Hackett, Waltraud Phillips and husband Tom of Fort Smith, Josephine Miller and husband Jack of Muldrow and Mary Scott and husband Ernie of Fort Smith, eleven grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Louis Castanedas, Josh Newton, Aaron Newton, Tyler Miller, Tom Phillips and Preston Morgan.
The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM prior to the Rosary Service at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
