Katheryn E. Merritt

Katheryn E. Merritt, 84, of Fort Smith, died October 21, 2015 in Fort Smith. She was born January 16, 1931 in Houston, TX to Wilfred Joseph and Corine Allen Stansburry Romair. She was a retired employee of All Star Carpet Cleaning and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Barling.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara and husband James Connally of Celina, TX; three sons, David A. and wife Carolyn Merritt of Barling, Ron and wife Freeda Merritt of Fort Smith, and Donald R. and wife Donna Merritt of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Lucille Lapaglia of Houston, TX.; seventeen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Merritt; one daughter, Kathy Penney; two sisters, Willie Mae Harris and Eva Noble; and her brother, Wendell Romair.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Merritt, Davey Merritt, Jerry Ginn, Randy Batson, David Romine, and Steve McAlister. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5-7 PM.
