

Madeline Phillips Whitson passed away January 9, 2015 in Fort Smith. Madeline was born July 4, 1934 in Fort Smith to Archibald and Bonnie Louise Wright Phillips. She was a nurse in Fort Smith for many years and took great pride in her profession, working most of her career for Sparks Regional Medical Center. Momo, (as she was known to her grandchildren first, and everyone later in her life) loved having her children and grandchildren all together for holidays and vacations. Madeline had a huge place in her heart for the elderly and she truly loved babies. She loved playing cards and other games and really, really liked to win. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie and husband Ric DiLella of Rainbow City, AL and Lori Whitson also of Rainbow City, AL; two sons, Donnie and wife Carol Whitson of Greenwood, AR and John and wife Sabrena Whitson of Marion, TX; eight grandchildren, Melissa and husband Brian Jones of Southside, AL., Josh and wife Megan Whitson of Fort Smith, Erica DiLella of Rainbow City, AL., Daniel and wife Liz DiLella of Birmingham, AL., Sarah and husband Brody Brownfield of Greenwood, AR., Lauren DiLella of Gadsden, AL., Brittany and husband Matt Ferguson of San Antonio, TX., and Matthew and wife Christina Whitson of San Antonio, TX; eight great grandchildren, Hayes and Theo Whitson, Charlotte and Amelia DiLella, Ella and Lettie Brownfield, Kaileigh Whitson and Lilyana Ferguson; one sister, Bonnie Krenzer of Berlin Heights, OH; one brother, Keith Phillips of Boulder, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Bonnie Phillips and sister, Anna Lee Thralls.
Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 3-5 PM.
