
Marie Susan Meyer Hanna of Fort Smith died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at a local hospital. She was 92 years old. She was born July 6, 1918, in Okarche, Oklahoma, to Mary Kruse Meyer and Bernard A. (Ben) Meyer, the fourth of seven children. She grew up in Loyal, Oklahoma, and attended Business College in Enid, Oklahoma. She married Dan E. Hanna, Jr. on October 6, 1946. They owned and operated a business in Little Rock and Fort Smith. He died in 1998.
Marie attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, graduating with degrees in English and political science. For many years she was active in the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women.
Rosary service will be 7:00 PM Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 12 Noon Friday, February 4, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She was predeceased by her brothers Harry Meyer, Nick Meyer and Bernard Meyer and sisters Irma Meyer and Mildred Sigl.
She is survived by her sister Florence Sigl, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tom Meyer, Bob Meyer, Richard Meyer, Steven Sigl, Larry Sigl and Ken Sigl.
