

Marina Verano Martinez, 52, of Fort Smith, passed from this life June 4, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Colombia, South America to the late Bernardo Verano and Guillermina Sierra. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Saint Thomas University in Bogotá, Colombia. She was a pre-K 3 teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic School. She was also a member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Marina was the widow of Juan G. Martinez.
Marina is survived by daughter Valentina Martinez of Fort Smith; her son, Juan Felipe Martinez of Fort Smith; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Martinez of Dora and Bobbi Martinez of Fort Smith; her sisters, Elena, Alicia, Maria, Rubiela, Miriam and Sandra all of Colombia, South America; two brothers Jose and Gilberto of Colombia, South America; her cousin Lina Osorio and family of Sherwood, Arkansas; her father and mother-in-law, Isidro and Genoveva Martinez of Fort Smith; four sisters-in-law, Rosa I. Brown, Narcedalia Martinez, Petra de la Rosa and Isidra M. Kaelin, all of Fort Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Rosary will be said at 6:00pm Monday, June 8, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Viewing will be from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday, June 8 at Edwards Funeral Home.
