Marvena Chitwood, 2 days shy of 95 years, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 4, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Tulsa, OK, she was a homemaker until she was hired at Baldor Electric in the Accounting Department, where she worked for 20 years.
Marvena enjoyed sewing, crocheting, antiquing, decorating her home and working in her flower beds, which one year resulted in her receiving the Orchid Award in Fianna Hills for her beautiful yard. Her sewing skills were displayed in the tiny clothes she made for her daughter's Barbie doll, from jogging suits to formal gowns. Her great grandchildren enjoy playing with the same dolls and clothes today, some 65 years later.
She loved hosting her family for delicious meals, using her fine china and silver, and having the family for Thanksgiving each year, until she was almost 90 years of age.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Glen Chitwood (Leigh Anne) of Bentonville, daughter Jan Martini (John) of Ft. Smith, grandchildren Cara Whedbee (Gilmer, TX), Linsey Williams Coweta, OK), Gabe Martini (Leander, TX), Adam Chitwood (Tulsa, OK), Kylie Meerholz (Jenks, OK), Ryan Hollis (Bella Vista, AR), and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Oak Cemetery in Ft. Smith, AR at 11:00 am Saturday, May 10, 2025.
