

Mary Jo Rogers McRae, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 13th 2010. She was born December 17th, 1913 in Conway, Arkansas to Eliza Watts Killian and Silas Wesley Rogers. Mary Jo spent her formative years in Little Rock until her family moved to El Dorado where she graduated from high school. She attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill South Carolina and the University of Arkansas where she pledged Phi Beta Phi. She celebrated 49 years of marriage to Carleton McRae before his death in 1986. Mary Jo was actively involved in the First Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs where she was a deacon. She was also involved with the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado and Fort Smith. She was a charter member of the Junior Charity League in El Dorado, and a member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. She was owner and operator of The Treasure House, Inc. in El Dorado for over thirty years.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carleton Young and husband Robert, her son, Chris and his wife Ruthie all of Fort Smith, daughter-in-law Christine McRae of Little Rock, one sister, Jane Ramano, of Oceanside, California, grandchildren Tracy Young Smith of Little Rock, Christy Young Ivey and Stephen McRae Young of Fort Smith, Catherine McRae of Brooklyn, New York, Thomas McRae of Little Rock, Heather McRae of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jennifer McRae of Ormand Beach, Florida and Doug McRae of Fort Smith. She is also survived by six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas C. McRae, IV, grandson Robert A. Young, IV and three brothers, Silas W., Thomas T., and Dr. William B. Rogers.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Graveside service will be in Eldorado, Arkansas at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 17th, at the Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Director’s.
The family will greet friends at the home of her daughter Mary Carleton Young.
