Nancy Fine born January 13, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee passed this life and entered into eternal life and happiness, free from sorrow and pain, with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 17, 2015. She spent most of her adult life in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and the last 20 years in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In Fort Smith, she was actively involved in the Inter-Faith Community Center, The Sparks Guild and served on the Board at Girls, Inc. Her passion was playing bridge which afforded her the opportunity to meet and come to know some of the nicest people in Fort Smith and Sallisaw.
She had, for the last one year, fought a strong and courageous battle against Leukemia. Her last few months were difficult but because of her faith in Christ, and the power of prayer by family and a multitude of friends and churches, her life remained free of suffering and pain.
In her final days, she was surrounded by close friends and family, and her daily prayers and devotionals with God brought comfort and peace that modern medicine could not provide.
Nancy now resides with her Heavenly Father where there is no pain and no suffering. She leaves behind to remember her precious smile, gentle sprit and loving personality, her husband, Dr. Gary Fine; son Nicholas Carter and his wife Betty of Greenbriar, TN; and granddaughters Nikki Marvel and Amber Hood; daughter Keli Ward and her partner Donna Aldridge of Dallas, TX and grandson Eli Ward Aldridge; daughter Melody Stanhope of Sallisaw, OK and grandson Austin Stanhope.
She will be remembered by a host of close friends as having a positive gentle spirit, giving nature and the ability to see the ‘best’ in everyone. To her husband, she was a wonderful wife of over 33 years. To her children, the lesson she taught was to give your best and do what Christ expected.
She will be missed by many but will remain in the heart and memory of so many precious friends and family. Her belief in God and the salvation He freely gives to those who trust Him is her testimony. To those who have been faithful in prayer, she sends a final ‘hug’.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 21, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Graveside service for family and close friends will precede the service at 9:30 AM in Sallisaw City Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nancy’s Sallisaw bridge group.
