Neal was born in Paragould, AR, on August 30, 1945, the first-born child of Jack and Mae Wade. In 1967, Neal was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he honorably served his country in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he met the love of his life, Irma Cagle. Neal and Irma were soon married, beginning a journey of 57 years defined by unwavering devotion and deep companionship.
A dedicated public servant, Neal protected his community for decades. He retired from the Fort Smith Fire Department after 20 years of brave service and continued his commitment to the area by working another 15 years with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.
Together, Neal and Irma raised two sons, Cody and Cully. Neal’s greatest legacy is found in them; he raised them to be men of faith and honor—values they proudly carry forward today. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, passing on his stories and his smile to a new generation.
Loved by all who knew him, Neal was never short of a friendly smile or a funny story. To those who knew him well, he was a gifted jokester who delighted in making people laugh. Above all, he possessed a servant’s heart and was never too busy to help a neighbor or friend in need.
Neal is survived by his beloved wife, Irma Wade; his sons, Cully (Amanda) Wade and Cody Wade (fiancée Sara); and his four cherished grandchildren: Ashley Cole Creek (Steven), Coleton Wade (fiancée Danielle), Carson Wade, and Sullivan Wade. He is also survived by his brother, Allen Wade; his sisters, Jackie and Vickie; his niece, Misty Pryor; and his nephews, Devin and Dustin Norwood.
Funeral service will be 12:00 pm Monday, December 29, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
