

Pearl Annabel Doss Phillips, 94, formerly of Fort Smith, died December 3, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1918 to J.B. Doss and Cordelia Ester Snoddy Doss. Annabel Phillips was graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Arkansas Polytechnic College and taught at Spradling Elementary School from 1955 until retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, Alpha Delta Kappa, and the National Educators Association. Annabel and John Phillips were married on November 24, 1939 and celebrated 67 anniversaries before his death in 2006. She is survived by three children, Judith Ann Phillips Guest and her husband Gordon Dana Guest; John Williams Phillips, Jr. and his wife Jane Henry Phillips; and Janet Lynn Phillips Brumley and her husband Paul H. Brumley; eight grandchildren, Gordon D. Guest, Jr., Lee Ann Guest James, Michelle Lynn Phillips Hubner, Jennifer Leigh Phillips Van Hanken, Sarah Jane Phillips Doyle, Jason Aaron Phillips Brumley, Jessica Erin Brumley Griffin, and Laura Elizabeth Jenkins Brumley Wolovits; and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Phillips, son of James Harvel Phillips and Minnie Etta Jackman Phillips. The family would like to thank all of her friends, family, and colleagues for their many years of kindnesses. Private Funeral Service and interment will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5-7 PM in Edwards Funeral Home.
