The youngest of nine, Rita was the last of her generation with her beloved siblings having preceded her in death. Her too generous heart gave out on Monday December 19.
Her Catholic faith was core to her being. The week before she died, Rita was able to have lunch with her I.C. Ladies Auxiliary friends, play cards, and hold a baby. It was her kind of a perfect day.
Her family was what she lived for. She is survived by her seven children: Pete (Christine) Helfrich of Salt Lake City, Utah, Donnie Helfrich of Fort Smith, Terri (Steve) Haaser of Fort Smith, Ken (Cathy) Helfrich of New Bern, North Carolina, Tom (Danielle) Helfrich of Burleson, Texas, Jane (Dick) Wakefield of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Anna (Scott) Jones of Rogers, Arkansas.
She was truly devoted to her 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Rita loved sharing her beautiful voice but never more so than singing with others. She always made you feel special, like you were her one and only. MawMaw gave the best hugs and kisses!
Funeral mass will be Tuesday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a rosary at the church at 10:30 right before the mass. Burial will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
