Robin Lynn Townsend

Robin was the daughter of Bill and Shirley Benning. She was a graduate of Northside High School class of 1978.

Robin was twice given the gift of life by her mother; first in her birth on November 3, 1959, and then again August 23, 1977 when it became necessary for Robin to receive a kidney transplant due to Renal failure. While both parents and brothers met all medical requirements allowing them to donate a kidney, her mother was insistent that she be the one to offer Robin a second chance for life.

Robin took great pride in the success of her kidney transplant and the longevity of life it afforded her in the 37 years she survived after the transplant. She especially enjoyed traveling to the World Transplant Game conferences, where she was able to celebrate life while meeting other transplant recipients who all share a common life story.

Robin is survived by her mother, Shirley Benning, of Fort Smith; brothers William Benning of Nicut, Oklahoma and Gregory Benning of Nashville, TN; nieces Jennifer Benning of Fort Smith

and Sarah Benning of Denver Colorado.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 28th at Oak Cliff Baptist Church, 3701 Gary St., Fort Smith, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
