Dr. Scott Frederick Recker, 62, of Millcreek, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born in Newton, Massachusetts and graduated from Lower Moreland High School in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania, and Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, completing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UC Davis, in Sacramento, California.
In his youth, Scott was an avid Boy Scout and loved camping, backpacking, and road rallies. An avid audiophile and electronic hobbyist, he was always tinkering with the earliest computers, radios, sound equipment, and model rockets. His interests grew into a life-long love of crafting and flying radio-controlled model airplanes. He had a great ear for music and enjoyed adding his large bass voice to a choir. As a dedicated family man, he was a loving, tolerant, and unflappable dad, always engaged with and supportive of his children. In his career as a physician, he had a warm and caring manner, and always gave his patients as much one-on-one time as he could. For years, his medical career placed him near his favorite mountains, the Alleghenys, where he spent many leisure hours flying planes.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Marybelle Donnan Recker; his father, Harry Frederick Recker; and his sister Christine Sweeney. Scott is survived by his loving wife Tina (nee Stevens); his eleven year old twins Mark and Olivia; sister Cynthia Recker Bodger of Nipomo, California; brother Stephen Recker of Smithsburg, Maryland; nephews John, James, and Henry; and nieces Claire and Marybelle. He is also survived by his adult children from a previous marriage: David, Matthew, Michael, and Allison Recker.
Scott will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Although he requested no services be held, there will be a memorial gathering this summer.
