Sue Ann McDow

Sue Ann McDow, 81, of Hackett, AR, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1942 in Olney, IL to the late James and Martha Fish McAlister. Sue retired from the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer First Class, she went on to work as a sales associate at Walmart. She was known at work as “Safety Sue” by her fellow associates and she was conscientious of work safety and a hard worker. Sue was a very active person, in high school she loved playing softball and basketball, and she ran track. She also loved fishing and the outdoors. She was an animal lover, she loved taking care of her chickens. Sue was a determined person, as she fought through her battle with Parkinson’s disease. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister in-law, Judy McAlister.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Galicia of Hackett; two brothers, Joe McAlister of Abilene, TX and John McAlister of Ballinger, TX; three grandchildren, Katelynn Galicia, Allison Galicia and Kelsey Fogo, along with one great grandchild, Nathaniel Galicia Schelsky.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home.

Graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 am Friday, September 29, 2023 at the pavilion of the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
