

Tula McLean Hennig, 92, of Fort Smith, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 in Fishers, Indiana. She was born October 31, 1918 to Odessa Lee Tippett and Ona McLean of Pyatt, Arkansas. She served in the Navy during WWII as a member of the WAVES. On December 7, 1943, she married Arthur W. Hennig. They shared 55 years of marriage until his death in 1999. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Tula was an avid gardener, an excellent cook and a master seamstress. She will be missed and her memory cherished by her family and friends.
Tula was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Woodrow and Olin, sister Lotus, and her husband Arthur.
She is survived by her son Arthur Hennig and his wife Cissie; daughter Mary Jane Hennig; daughter Sara Thomas and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Geoff Hennig, Amalie and Emory Holland, Christopher Thomas, Jennifer Bakalyar, Elizabeth Mannix; and great grandchildren, Audrey, Vivian, Charlotte, Logan, Addison, and Leila.
There will be a visitation from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Thursday, October 13 at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N. 12th, Fort Smith, AR
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, October 14, at the U.S. National Cemetery Pavilion with Reverend Michael Thomas officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Heifer International or Lutheran World Relief.
