

Virgil Lloyd Wiggins, 94, of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Fort Smith. Virgil was born March 6, 1916 in Paris, Arkansas to Rosa Lee and William Harrison Wiggins. He graduated from Paris High School in 1934. On September 26, 1936 he married the love of his life Enah Maye Wiles.
Virgil worked with his father and brothers in W.H. Wiggins and Sons, which operated grocery and hardware stores. He later owned Wiggins Hardware in Van Buren, Arkansas. After selling his store in 1975 he sold wholesale hardware and one year was awarded salesman of the year.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with a private family burial at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Enah Maye Wiggins; one son: Lloyd Dean Wiggins and his wife Carolyn of Fort Smith; one daughter: Becky Freeman and her husband Paul of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister: Lennie Kinnecutt of Flemington, Missouri; four grandchildren: Edye Thornton and her husband Jim, David Wiggins and his wife Angela all of Fort Smith; Stephen Wiggins and his wife Misti of Riverside, California and Jill Reid and her husband David of New York, New York; and nine great grandchildren.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alpha, Uel, Aaron, Uan, Alva, and Melvin Wiggins.
Pallbearers will be Payne Wiggins, Bill Wiggins, Tom Wiggins, Uel Wiggins, Jim Thornton, and Paul Freeman.
The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Virgil’s nurses and staff at Covington Court Health and Rehab Center, whose service and dedication was always more than expected. Most important of all, The family thanks God for giving us Virgil to be the kind, loving and dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather he was.
