Agnes Lucille Kaough Kowalczyk

Agnes Lucille Kowalczyk, age 98 died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. Born in rural Aboite Township, she was the oldest child of Nicholas and Ethel (Hatfield) Kaough. After finishing the 8th grade at the one-room township school house within walking distance of the family farm, she attended St. Augustine’s Academy in Fort Wayne. At the age of 12, she and her three prize-winning lambs travelled to Chicago for the International Livestock Show. At the age of 22, she purchased her first beauty shop, and at one time owned the three Modern Beauty Shops in Fort Wayne, on East State Street and South Calhoun Street. Agnes was a member of the Priscilla Home Demonstration Club, the Allen County Republican Women’s Club, The Marian Society and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s summer Bible School, the V.A. Hospital, the Covington Manor Nursing Home and St. john the Baptist Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Molly( Dr. Mark) Lindenmeyer of Batesville, IN, her son John (Barbara) Kowalczyk of Fort Wayne, IN, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her sister Ruth (Ralph) Hine of Fort Wayne, IN. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Weaver and her second husband, George Kowalczyk and her brothers Ross and Earl Kaough

Services will be held Tuesday 10:30 am May 11, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Ft. Wayne, IN. With visitation one hour prior to service. Preferred Memorials are to St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Fort Wayne and Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
