

Alan was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served from 1954-1958. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University, and his Master’s Degree from New York State University at Buffalo. Alan retired as an Electrical Engineer from ITT Aerospace with over 25 years of service. His memberships included, New Haven United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 47. He earned his pilot's and instructor's license and enjoyed flying during his early life. He enjoyed camping with his family, woodworking, and was a Ham Radio Operator. He devoted over 20 years mentoring youth as a leader in Boy Scouts. In later years, Alan took up roller skating, with his grandchildren every Sunday. He started ballroom dancing in his 60’s and danced and competed into his 80’s. Throughout Allen’s life, he gave of his time and talents to support youth with special needs, through developing speech assisting devices, dance and Special Olympics. His true passion was spending time with his family.
Alan is survived by his children, Larry (Brenda) Clemens, Sue Kelty, Doug (Kathy) Clemens, Robin Clemens, Ron (Beth) Clemens; step-children, Loren (Aimee) Fry, Robert (Vicky) Fry, Dennis (Melody) Fry, Randall (Anita) Fry; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Joyce Clemens, in 1997, and his second wife of 20 years, Fern E. Clemens, in 2021.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also take place from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
