Dr. Allan John Perry, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN was welcomed into heaven on May 2, 2026. Born on February 13, 1938, in Arcola, Saskatchewan, Canada, he progressed from riding his horse to a one-room schoolhouse to graduate from the University of Saskatchewan Medical School, going on to complete his surgical residency at the University of Michigan. He began practicing medicine in Toronto, Ontario, before being recruited to join Arata Medical Group in Fort Wayne in 1980. Allan served many grateful patients with his outstanding general surgical skills for 17 years in Fort Wayne. He proudly had privileges at Parkview, Lutheran and St. Joseph Hospitals.
Allan was a lifelong learner who deeply appreciated religion and biblical studies. He shared his passion by passing on his knowledge leading Bible Studies and Sunday School sessions. One life highlight was a pilgrimage he took to Israel. He found community at Blackhawk Christian Church. Allan also loved to learn about science. He applied his medical background and became a faculty member at Ivy Tech, where he taught anatomy and physiology to nursing students.
He took great pride in his family, not hiding admiration for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed to have his devoted granddaughter Taylor living with and caring for him. Over the years he took grandchildren to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC on several occasions. He was infamous for writing poems and clues for everyone to find their Christmas gifts hidden throughout the house. He had an adventurous spirit, generous nature and was open to doing and eating anything. Allan was at his happiest when he was studying, learning, teaching, exploring, visiting and sharing.
Allan is survived by his three children, Darrell (Melinda), Keli Elgin (Scott) both of Fort Wayne, and Joanne Bilinski (Joe) of Yardville, NJ; seven grandchildren, Taylor Ridderheim of Fort Wayne, Ryan Elgin (Abbey) of Carmel, Marissa Moser (Nick) of Fort Wayne, Allison Perry of Carmel, Clayton Perry of Dallas, TX, Olivia Bilinski of Bozeman, MT, and Alex Bilinski of Yardville, NJ; three
