Born on April 6, 1924, in Fort Wayne to the late Thomas Jay and Donna Marie (Hensley) Heston, Anna lived a long, full life that spanned more than a century of history, hard work, and humor.
She married the love of her life Warn Leroy Wasson on March 14, 1946. Together they shared 33 rich years of marriage until Warn's passing on June 29, 1979.
In addition to her husband and parents, Anna was preceded in death by her stepfather Glen Harold Adams of Fort Wayne, sisters, Mary Irene Petre of Albion, Donna Marie Hodson of Fishers, half brother George Allen Couden of Fort Pierce, Florida, and daughter Janice May Panyard of Fort Wayne. She is survived by son Warn Leroy Jr. (Judy), and daughter Ellen Marie Rockey (David) of Albion. Anna also leaves behind six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A 1942 graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne, Anna was among the many women of her generation who stepped up during World War II to fill vital roles on the home front. She worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne, producing weapon parts that supported the Allied effort – a contribution she carried with quiet pride. After the war, she worked at the former Fort Wayne Box Company for a few years before setting out on new adventures with her husband Warn.
Later, Anna volunteered at the Parkview Hospital cafeteria in Fort Wayne for over ten years, and at the day care center at the former Westwood Lanes in Fort Wayne.
Anna enjoyed playing the accordion, gardening, ice skating, bowling with her husband Warn, attending family reunions, picnicking with her family, and watching professional golf (PGA) tournaments on television and in person at the World Series of Golf in Akron Ohio.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Brentwood at Elkhart Assisted Living, and Traditions Health Hospice at Mishawaka for the loving care they gave Anna.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025 at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, with visitation two hours prior.
