Athelene Thayer

Athelene Thayer, 86, of Fort Wayne passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. She was born on May 11, 1932 in Tupelo, Mississippi, a daughter of the late William and Maudie (Brock) Hopkins. She worked as a purchasing agent for Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana before retiring. She was a member at New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending her free time gardening, working with her flowers, and going to yard sales. Surviving family include her son, Jeff (Deb) Thayer; and grandchildren, Joseph Thayer and Sarah (William) O'Hern. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Richard Thayer; and her granddaughter, Sherri Fausey. Private family services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
