Barbara Shirley Travis, 88, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away in her home on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was born May 14, 1933 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harry Burke and Mabel Smith. After graduating Fort Wayne Central High School in 1951, Barb worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools for 23 years. She was an active member of Southwest Church of Christ and the Eastern Star. A lover of plants, she obtained her Advanced Master Gardner certification from the Purdue Extension and was an accomplished seamstress. Barb is survived by her children, Jan (Keith) Crum of Fort Wayne, Fran Ashton of Fort Wayne, and David (Renee) Travis of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, Shauna (David) West, Shane (Jamie) Reed, Carolyn Travis, Lucy Travis, Audrey Travis, and Blake Evans; and great-grandchildren, Austin West, Regan West, Braden West, Zoe Reed, Addison Reed and Emma Reed. Also preceding her in passing was her brother, Paul Burke; and sister, Betty Bunker. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 2-5pm at the Southwest Church of Christ 5500 Ardmore Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46809.
