Bonnie Lou Schweyer, 79, of Fort Wayne, fell asleep for the last time on March 31, 2018, at Genesis Healthcare of New Haven. Born on July 21, 1938, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Luella Inman. On September 16, 1955, she married her best friend and love of her life, Clarence W. Schweyer Jr, who also preceded her in death. A member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, the church’s Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. In her younger years, she spent countless hours volunteering for St Paul’s Lutheran Church. In remembering Bonnie, one of the greatest achievements in her life was when she took on city hall through a petition campaign, and won the right for city water and sewers for her neighborhood.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Schweyer, of New Haven; sons, Clarence W. (Connie) Schweyer III, of Stroh, Jeffrey Schweyer, of Fort Wayne, Matthew Schweyer, of Dallas, Texas, James Schweyer, of Fort Wayne, and Richard (Wendy Ferguson) Schweyer, of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlene Brundege, Sharon Logan, and Judy Voors; brother, David Inman. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Johnson; and brother, Charles Inman.
Funeral service will be 11am, Thursday, April 5, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, April 4, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to St Paul’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
