Brenda Kay McBride

Brenda Kay McBride, 57, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 surrounded by love. Born on January 20, 1964, she was a daughter of Char Ruth (Bodenhafer) Koch. Brenda was a cosmetologist the majority of her adult life and she also held the position of administrative assistant for the transportation department at Southwest Allen County Schools, a job she truly loved and excelled in. Brenda absolutely loved sunshine and all things having to do with the beach, pool, and warm weather. She enjoyed camping at Manapogo Park, playing bingo there and being surrounded by friends who became family. Brenda was extremely proud of her two children, born 12 years apart; something she wanted everyone to know that was planned as she loved getting to have two "only children" to spoil. She was an incredible, hands on, loving mother who cheered her kids on in any endeavor they chose to take on. She absolutely adored being a Gaga to her three grands and visited them whenever she was able and lit up anytime she was in their presence. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Cassie Doolittle; son, Bailey (Ashlee) McBride; grandchildren, Brielle, Denver & Brighton Doolittle; mother, Char (Dennis) Koch; sister, Cheri (Mark) Hafferkamp, brother-in-laws, Patrick (Deb) McBride, Matthew (Robin) McBride; uncle, Charles Bodenhafer; aunt, Connie (Bob) Ashby; nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Luke) Naker, Kurt (Hannah) Hafferkamp, Bryan McBride, Kathyrn (Corey) McBride, Madison (Joseph) Kipfer, Kasie (Jeremy) Sullivan, and Kelly (Ben) Hayes. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas McBride and brother-in-law, Kevin McBride. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021 with calling one hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Calling will also be held at the funeral home from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Sunday, February 21, 2021.
