CARL JEFFERY BALTES, 65, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital. Born July 11, 1957, he was a son of the late Carl J. and Dorothy (Wood) Baltes. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking, and spending Friday nights with his siblings-singing karaoke. Carl was also a certified diver. "May we remember him, an avid stargazer, when we look up into the stars." Carl honorably served in the United States Army from March 13, 1975 through March 12, 1978 at CSC 2-63rd First Armor Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. He attained the rank of sergeant. Surviving Carl are his two sons, Carl (Vicki) Baltes of Bryan, Ohio, and Chris (Amber) Baltes of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Ashley N. Baltes, Jacob J. Baltes and Noah B. Baltes; two brothers, John (Sandra) Baltes and Fred (Michelle) Baltes, both of Fort Wayne; and two sisters, Catherine Roberts of New Haven, Ind., and Margaret Miller of Fort Wayne. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl J. and Dorothy I. Baltes; three brothers, Richard Bell, James Davis and Ronald Davis; and one brother-in-law, Donald Miller. Memorial service is 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services-Mungovan, 2114 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, Ind., followed by military honors and an hour of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Preferred memorials are to Shepherd's House, 519 Tennessee Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
