Carl William Blickendorf, DDS, passed away at the grand age of 93 on Saturday, May 28, 2022, in Oceanside, California. A first-generation American, Carl was born to William and Elise Blickensderfer on January 2, 1929 and raised on the family wheat farm in Mott, North Dakota.
Carl attended North Dakota State University, and later, Asbury University in Kentucky, with a theology degree. Pastor Carl and his wife, Heather, served several years in ministry with the United Methodist Church before pursuing his true calling of dentistry. Dr. Blickendorf graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis in 1966. He faithfully served his patients in the same Fort Wayne location (West State Street) for over 40 years. Dr. Blickendorf was a member of the American Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Isaac Knapp Dental Society.
A founding, charter member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Carl served on the building committee and was known for his tenor solos in the choir. He loved his family, traveling, laking at Hamilton, and joke telling to friends, patients and perfect strangers. Carl is survived by his son, James (Joni) Blickendorf, of Cicero IN; and daughter, Sherry (Gary) Pascua, of Encinitas, CA; grandchildren, Matt (Rebekah) Blickendorf, Meghan (Zack) Rosen, Adam Pascua, and Ellianna Pascua; and great-grandchildren, Anna Blickendorf, and Renee Rosen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death (and reunited in Heaven) by his wife, Heather (Schreffler) Blickendorf; brothers, Ernie, Ted, and Walter Blickensderfer; and his son, Thomas Allen Blickendorf.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m., until time of service.
