

CARLOS DEYOMER GONSER JR., 68, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, in Auburn at his son's home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Nov. 20, 1944, in Hicksville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Carlos D. Gonser Sr. and Agnes Ann (Bigger) Gonser. He served in the Army, which is where he met his loving wife of 40 years, Joyce Marie (Garvin) Gonser; she preceded him in death in 2009. He was a cook at Halls Hollywood for more than 30 years. Carlos love fishing, catching his last fish just two weeks ago, Morel mushroom hunting and playing cards. Surviving are his sons, Randy L. (Maureen) of Auburn and Michael A. Ruiz; daughters, Debra Lynn (Darren) Brown of Churubusco, Agnes Ann (Shane) Arthur of Pierceton and Jeannie Gonser; brother, Rex (Reba) Gonser of Auburn; sister, Mary Lou (Dick) McKown of St. Joe; grandchildren, Sarah Marie Gonser, Tyler L. Gonser, Darren R. Brown Jr., Leanna M. Brown, Joseph P. Brown, Branden S. Stillwell, Garrett K. Arther, Shannon (Gene) Albers, and Adam (Cheryl) Firks; great-grandchildren, Hannah M. Gage, Chloe Lynn Firks, Taylor Albers, and Joey Albers; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Joyce Marie Gonser, in 2009. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials to the Msgr. William Faber Education Fund at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
