

CAROL ROSE "Pinky" (PICKENS) WENTZ, 79, died on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Parkview Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Carol loved being a homemaker and doing for her family. Carol loved attending her sons sporting events and watching her husband play softball and bowling competitions. She liked shopping, traveling, crafts, bowling and reading. Carol was a loving grandmother and loved spending time with her five grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren. Carol attended Central Catholic High School from 1950 to 1954 where she was part of the Central Catholic Fighting Irish Marching Band, where she performed as a varsity majorette for the four years she attended C.C.H.S. Carol won many medals representing Central Catholic High while participating in various baton twirling competitions. After graduating, she was employed at Lincoln National Bank. After graduation, Carol attended University of Saint Francis where she was on the honor roll and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi. Carol belonged to The Fort Wayne Turners for 42 years and WIBC for 15 years. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Wentz; sons, Mark (Renee) Wentz and Mitchell Wentz of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Penny Jakway of Spring, Texas, Gale (Ronald) Nicodemus and Dale Ann Smith, both of Fort Wayne; and three nephews and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forna J. Pickens and Lillian P. Pickens; and one nephew. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, Dec, 28, 2015, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at the funeral home. Entombment at Highland Park Cemetery.
