

Cheryl Block passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, after a long illness, with her beloved husband Paul beside her. Cheryl was born in Belvidere, Illinois, on June 2, 1950, to Ralph and June Gorham. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Paul L. Block Jr., on June 14, 1969, in Rockford, Illinois. Cheryl will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, and her unwavering spirit throughout her illness.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her sons, Paul L. Block III and Bradley Block (Sarah) both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her daughter, Amy Stone (Jeffery) of Blue Springs, Missouri; she is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Fern Block, Bethany Block, Gabriel Stone, Addison Stone and Liam Stone; brother, Ralph Gorham Jr. of Ashland, Maine; sister, Carol Brothers of Tell City, Indiana; brothers-in-law, Fred Block (Sherry) of Rockford, Illinois and Douglas Block (Chris) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; sisters-in-law, Sharon Lund of Sun City, Arizona and Cindy Hildebrand (John) of Rockford, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Reagan Maryl Stone; father, Ralph Gorham Sr., mother, June McClean; sisters, Linda Fowler and Joyce Gorham; her beloved father-in-law, Paul l. Block Sr.; mother-in-law, Beverly Block; and sisters-in-law, Debra Girone and Linda Jacobsen.
Cheryl cherished her family deeply and always looked forward to spending quality time with them. Her devotion to her loved ones was evident in the joy she found in their company and the memories they created together.
In addition to her strong family bonds, Cheryl enjoyed fishing and traveling across the country. She especially appreciated visiting national parks with her husband, Paul, as these trips allowed them to share new experiences and explore the beauty of nature together.
Cheryl shared a special bond with her dog, Charlie, whose playful presence and unwavering companionship brought warmth and happiness to her life.
A private ceremony will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the National Parks Foundation.
