Nécrologie de Christine Marie Cogswell
Christine Marie Cogswell, 72 was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital. She was born on July 29, 1949 in Washington D.C. to John David Cogswell and Virginia Jefferson Cogswell. Chris is survived by her niece Pamela (Spencer) Reed and great nieces Samantha and Payton Springdale, Arkansas; cousin Neal Cogswell and family of Silver Spring, Maryland; cousin Suzanne Jefferson of Fort Wayne; long time special friend Marv Marino of Fort Wayne and her special “sisters” of Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John David Cogswell II; nephew John David Cogswell III; and both the Cogswell and Jefferson grandparents. Chris was intelligent, most thoughtful and had a zest for life. She had a great sense of humor, quick wit, and was an excellent debater and public speaker. She brought much joy, enthusiasm and encouragement into the lives of those around her. She was an excellent cook, avid reader and dedicated traveler. She loved going on car trips, cruises and exciting vacations with others- especially excursions to Disney World. She was very organized and a meticulous planner-if you wanted something done right, she was your go-to person. During her work career, she was employed by Lincoln Life for over 25 years and spent several years in Management. Those she supervised were always impressed with her talents, demeanor and support. Following her years at LFG, she moved to ITT where she worked in human resources and as an administrative secretary for several VP’s. Although she had numerous other work experiences, she often shared with her friends that her favorite job was working in the school setting helping young struggling readers learn the joys of reading and the power of good literature. Chris was a graduate of New Haven High School and attended IPFW where she received an Associate’s Degree. Among her, many interests were acting on several local stages and discussing politics, current events and many relevant topics. She was a leader in local civic groups and donated to many charities, especially those regarding children, animals and those less fortunate. Her optimism, loyalty and habit of putting others above herself was refreshing. Chris cared deeply for her family and was devoted to her many friends. She left wonderful memories for those who loved her and set an example for how to have hope and courage even when everything was falling apart around her. She will forever be remembered with love, respect and gratitude. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 12 noon to 2:30 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
