Craig Lloyd Hurtgam

Craig graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, New York, before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he proudly dedicated over 20 years of honorable service to his country. His commitment to duty and country remained a source of pride long after his retirement. From a young age, Craig was shaped by the values of the Boy Scouts. The Scouts’ Oath were not just words to him, but principles he lived by. These qualities defined the man he was - trustworthy, kind, helpful and brave to just name a few. When his daughters, Jamie, Kellie, and Megan joined the Girl Scouts, Craig didn’t hesitate to get involved. He became a part of their troop, creating cherished memories through camping trips and shared adventures, always leading by example with Scouts’ honor. Craig was also an active member of the American Legion Post #423 and the Moose Lodge.

His favorite place was his workshop, always listening to music and working with his hands. His lifelong passion for cars was evident in everything from rebuilding them from the ground up to watching races. He always had a wealth of knowledge to share about past and current races. Though he may have lacked perfect rhythm, Craig also loved to dance and did so without a care in the world who was watching. Above all else, Craig was a devoted father. He loved his daughters fiercely and unconditionally, joining in whatever activities they roped him into, always with a smile. Even when they occasionally got on each other’s nerves, his love and support never wavered. He was always there—steady, proud, and full of heart.

Craig is survived by his daughters, Jamie Hurtgam and Kellie Hurtgam; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Dunn, Mistaya Dunn, Jacquelyn Ivy, and Makennor Denning; great-granddaughter, Dalilah; siblings, Brenda (Jim) Bolinksi, Rise (Jack) Gian, Mark Hurtgam, and Mary Anne (Glenn) Boyce; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sue Hurtgam; daughter, Megan Hurtgam; and siblings, Joel Hurtgam and Terry Hurtgam.

A celebration of life for Craig will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone at Parkview Regional Medical Center for all of their support during this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Craig to Ronald McDonald House of Parkview Regional Medical Center or the Wounded Warrior Project.
