Daleana Kay Warren (Fraher), 76, passed away peacefully among family on Friday, June 6, 2025, in Ft. Wayne, IN. Kay was born October 8, 1948, in Tuscola, IL to her parents William G. and Florence “Tiny” M. (Thurman) Fraher.
As a young girl, she lived on a farm in eastern Illinois, loved kittens, and ran to her dad when he returned after his long road trips as a truck driver. She graduated from Mishawaka High School, married and had her two boys, Timmer and Matty. She encouraged in them a love for nature, crafts, good food, and empathy and care for others. Kay gained an affinity for cooking and baking from her mother-in-law, Anna M. Bowman (Meszaros). Her baked mostaccioli was divine, and her pumpkin rolls were legendary. Kay expressed her creativity through painting and crafts. Her Christmas wrapping on gifts were often too beautiful and elaborate to open.
She loved spending time outdoors camping and staying in the cabins of Potato Creek with the Reynolds family, the beaches and little towns of Lake Michigan, and vacationing with family at Donnell Lake in southern Michigan. Kay often would spend time with her friend, Connie, going to the casino.
Kay was outgoing and comfortable with people. She enjoyed serving in various jobs and positions including secretary at Notre Dame Alumni Office, receptionist at United Limo, secretary at IUSB English Department, special education aide at Mishawaka High School, customer service clerk at Mishawaka Utilities, and front desk registrant at Saint Joseph Hospital.
Kay is survived by her husband of 43 years of marriage, Thomas E. Warren of Mishawaka, IN; sons Timothy J. (Stephanie D.) Bowman of Columbus, OH and Matthew D. (Deborah J.) Bowman of Ft. Wayne, IN; step-daughters Heather L. (Warren) Young (Jeff) and Noelle M. Warren (J.D. Lewis) of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren Chloe K., Carter W., and Ainsley A. Bowman; Austin and Jeffrey Jr. Young; and Lola Hettrich.
Kay is now with her parents William and Florence “Tiny” Fraher, and beloved brother William “Bill” H. Fraher.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am Wednesday June 11, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior.
