Dan Standiford, 75, passed away on January 20, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 16, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Francis and Roselyn (Kinerk) Standiford. Dan graduated from South Side High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
Dan dedicated much of his professional life to Tokheim in Fort Wayne, where he earned his Journeyman certification in tool and die. In later years, he found fulfillment as an instructor at Ivy Tech, where he passed along his skilled trade knowledge to the next generation.
A devoted family man, Dan raised five children and cherished time spent with his fourteen grandchildren. He was known for his love of fitness, motorcycles and hot rods, old movies, and military history. Dan especially treasured hot, humid Indiana summer days, whether biking, swimming, or reading the paper on the back deck. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his orange road bike on country roads. Even into his late 60's, he was logging 1,000 miles on his bike every summer. He often said you could see the world better from a bicycle, and he appreciated that close-up view of life. Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jan Standiford; children, Elizabeth (Brian Kern) Standiford, Matthew (Ashley) Standiford, Renee (Rex) Moore, Jill (Carl) Boice, and Scott (Rikole Rouston) Standiford; fourteen grandchildren; brother, Martin Standiford; and his sister, Diane (Karenlee Kitto) Standiford. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Gisela Standiford.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals 6810 Old Trail Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Dan will be laid to rest at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
