

David Charles Lehman, 68, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was born September 23, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of the late Olen Irvin and Mary Joan (Vandagrift) Lehman. David passed from this life on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at home with family at his side.
David was a brave, devoted and compassionate person. He was known to be generous and hard-working. Many also knew him to be kind-hearted, wise, resilient, selfless, and inspirational, and a real good communicator. These characteristics aided him with group homes, workshops and affordable housing projects. His presence made everyone happy and created an environment of calmness.
David lived with steady purpose and a deep commitment to those he loved and the values he held dear.
He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, where he was confirmed and attended grade school, and he remained faithful until his passing.
David was a graduate of Carroll High School, Class of 1975. He continued his education at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and later received his CPA in 1993.
David served as Vice President at Passages Inc. in Columbia City, Indiana.
On October 3, 1981, David married the love of his life, Lori Diann Shomo, and together they built a life centered on family; to this union two sons were born.
David leaves to continue his legacy and many cherished memories to his beloved and devoted wife of 44 years, Lori; sons, Sean (Sidney) Lehman and Nicholas "Nick" Lehman; sisters, Sharon Miller and Marilyn (Jim) Kleber; brothers-in-law, Michael Glassley, Scott Shomo and Terry Shomo; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Terry) Brutton, Lisa Smith and Laurie Shomo; his mother-in-law, Mary Shomo; other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Glassley; brothers-in-law, Ed Miller; and Charles "Chip" Shomo; and father-in-law, Charles E. Shomo.
An avid IU sports fan, David attended many IU basketball games over the years and also followed the Detroit Tigers. He loved vacations with his family and cherished weekend getaways with his wife, especially the Indiana State Park Inns. For more than 50 years, David spent most weekends from mid-April to mid-October at Barton Lake in Fremont, Indiana, a place that held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed canoeing, hiking, playing bocce ball, frisbee, and basketball with his sons, being out on the water, and sharing family gatherings at Pokagon State Park.
The family expresses great gratitude to Parkview Hospice Care and Staff, Sharon, Angela, Todd and Michael.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at a later date.
