Deborah VanTilburg, a devoted mother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2024, after a short and aggressive battle with ovarian cancer; she was 68 years old. Deborah exemplified quiet strength and steadfast love, particularly for her son, Aaron, who brought her immense joy and purpose. Following Aaron's upbringing, she discovered fulfillment in various activities, including volunteering at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, crocheting, cross-stitching, and spending quality time with close friends and family. Her closest companions, Aaron, Paul Kelbe, and Sandy Davis, shared many cherished memories together, particularly during holiday celebrations over the years. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a dedicated member of Trier Ridge Community Church. Deborah’s kindness extended to all—from her church family to her beloved granddogs, whom she adored. Though she faced her illness with grace and courage, her spirit remained strong until the end.
Deborah is survived by her son, Aaron VanTilburg (Morgan); her mother, Helen Hermann; her brothers, David Hermann (Sally) and Daniel Hermann (Marsha); her sister-in-law, Billy Hermann; and her many nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hermann, and her brother, Doug Hermann.
A service to celebrate Deborah’s life is 12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 8th, at Trier Ridge Community Church, 7501 Hessen Cassel Rd., Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Trier Ridge Community Church.
Deborah’s kindness, faith, and quiet strength will be deeply missed.
