Donald Eugene Durnell, 91, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his Ossian residence. He was born March 20, 1927 in Fort Wayne to the late Harry and Ethel (Mallo) Durnell. He worked as a construction supervisor for Worthman Homes and then retired from Master Piece Construction in 1993. He was an active, long time member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities through the years. He is survived by his children, Duretta (David) Yoquelet of Argos, IN, Denise Durnell of Ossian, and Drake (Beth) Durnell of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Casey (Matt) Cripe, Clint (Jik) Yoquelet, Isabella Durnell, and Elijah Durnell; five great grandchildren; and sister, Norma Burley of Michigan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Joy (Bickel) Durnell in 2016; and siblings, Paul Durnell, Glen Durnell, and Ruth Hisner. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Nine Mile United Methodist Church, 6303 Winters Road, Fort Wayne IN 46809 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in Nine Mile Maplelawn Cemetery.
