Born on October 17, 1925, in Cedarville, Indiana, to Edward and Therese Harsch, Don was the youngest of five siblings, trailing several years behind Leonard, Evelyn, Ralph and LaVon "Bonnie", who doted on their baby brother.
In 1948, Don married his best friend's cousin, Juanita Foltz, who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by their two daughters, Marsha Sauter and Joyce (George) Martin; three grandchildren, Paul, Ben (Michelle) and Emily; and two great-grandchildren, Danny and Elden.
Don was a proud alumnus of North Side High School class of 1944, a skilled machine operator at Zollner Piston Corp., an active member (deacon, elder) of St. John's United Church of Christ. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bird-watching, crafting stained-glass, watching Nascar and Indiana basketball, listening to Big Band music and pipe organs, and spending time with his many friends and family. Don loved his family and the canine pets that shared his life. His memory is treasured.
A graveside service will be held in Bohn Chapel in Lindenwood Cemetery on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
