Mr. Donald J. Witte

DONALD JOHN WITTE, 87, died Thursday, July 9, 2015. Born Dec. 26, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Ernest and Frieda Witte. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School and graduated from North Side High School class of 1945. Don served in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1947. Thereafter, he was employed by Lynn Koehlinger Co. and Felderman Construction, Inc. Don was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was an active volunteer at Lutheran Homes for many years, providing transportation for residents and assisting in the annual fund raising Bargain Bonanza, and was a member of the South Side Optimist TPA. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Anna L. Witte; daughter, Diana L. Otterness; son, Steven K. Witte (Gail King); grandchildren, David (Jenn) Otterness, Steven (Meghan) Otterness, Jared Witte, and Jenna Witte; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial immediately following the funeral service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
