D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park
Eloise Jane Guy passed away on Thursday, June 8th at Heritage Pointe of Fort
Wayne. She leaves behind a daughter, Janet (Bill) and son Don (Elna), along with
grandsons Brian and Eric and granddaughter Nola. She was preceded in death by
her husband Robert.
Eloise was born and raised in Johnstown, New York and attended the Eastman
School of Music where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She came
to Ft. Wayne in 1952 to play in the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, as well as to teach
music in the elementary schools in Washington Township. She played in the
Philharmonic for over 50 years, having held the positions of assistant and associate
concertmaster. In addition, she taught many private students at home and through
Ft. Wayne Suzuki Talent Education. She loved music and was generous in sharing
her skills and enthusiasm.
Through the years she played in many venues, either as a soloist or with her many
friends and colleagues. From chamber music concerts at the Allen County Public
Library in the 1960s through countless weddings, funerals, church services, and
“just for fun,” something was always happening.
She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI), a professional music fraternity for
women, and she belonged to both the Sanctuary Choir and the handbell choir at
First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
A celebration of Eloise’s life will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at

46802, with visitation prior from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
